from the marché
we found a vendor last summer who is also the farmer and it's such a pleasure to buy directly from him and know it's 'local'! despite the plentiful outdoor markets in Paris, it's rare to find an actual producer selling their harvest - most are just resellers and the produce comes from all over the world. but this guy, he loves what he sells and it's infectious (is it safe to use that adjective in the time of H1N1?). All of this cost us less than 20 euros: leeks, potatoes, squash, chervil, endive, carrots, spinach, brussel sprouts, apples, turnips, mache, onions and free recipe suggestions.
and a glimpse into a bilingual home from last night:
Scene - boy and girl cleaning up the table after dinner
boy : what goes into the compost?
girl : fruit, vegetable,....and grains.
boy : brains?
