i'm not really sick anymore. i still have my from-the-lungs cough and a runny nose but, i'm thinking that may be environmental.
i've been hesitant to post because only r's computer is hooked up to the net and his computer is french which means the keys are in slightly different places. so trying to type a block of text sometimes means a lot of backspacing and eventually me getting annoyed and giving up. but, here we go.
so, what's the story?
i arrived a week and a half ago on icelandair. this was actually great because stopping in iceland is a bit more than half-way and you get to walk a bit and it was just all so much more bareable this time.
then i got sick. yuck. and on what was my sickest day, a dripping, nauseous, coughing, jet-lagged me had to get up and drag her luggage with r's mom to take the train (one hour) to paris and then take the metro (another hour and a few line changes) to get the keys to the apartment r and i are in now. luckily (sarcasim) the apartment is in monmartre, which, if you haven't been is the beautiful but san fran hilly quatier of paris. so, abby, drag your luggage up those stairs (that's how steep - there are stairs). then crawl into bed for 2 days. oh, i was soo miserable.
but now i'm getting a little bit back on track.
we are hugely lucky that a friend of r's mother has an apartment here that she's not in at the moment, so we can stay here free of charge for about a month and a half. this means that instead of traveling 4 hours a day to his new job, r is travelling about 30 minutes. blessing. seriously.
so we're settling a little bit...but not too much. i think finding my place in paris is going to take a while and we are both looking foward to creating our own space in our own apartment. which, i search for by day on the net.
so that's the story.
and i'm missing new england's autumn color!
